Hi

I have downloaded and installed USB Server for Linux. The purpose was to try and get a Lexmark 8350 printer to work with a virtual machine created in VMWare. I managed to get a connection to the USB Server via USB Redirector on the virtual machine. Unfortunately that's as far as it worked. When trying to install the printer it does not pick up the usb device. I have tried installing the Lexmark driver from the original CD, but it was never able to pick up the usb printer.

In short, it seems like USB server serves the USB device properly to the USB client (Redirector). The connection is established within redirector, but Windows does not recognise it as a USB device in order to install the proper driver.

So for now I will be looking for a different solution. It does however, seem like a very nifty tool to share usb devices.

Thanks
Kobus

Pricing Windows client is prohibitive

Hi,

USB server for Linux is great... and I would love to put it to use in combination with USB redirector for Windows. The price is prohibitive though; I think you should consider making it easier to step in, ie. price of Eur 25 for the entry level (one Linux server, one Windows client and up to 4 USB devices).

cheers
